Avelire (born Valerie Ng) works primarily with mixed-media sculpture installations involving steel rods and organic materials. She recently had an exhibition titled A Symbolic Decline in Bali, Indonesia, and has participated in several group shows in the United States, including theTransporter project with an art movement called The Center for Tactical Magic.

Although originally from Malaysia, Avelire has lived in several cities across South-East Asia and the United States. Currently, Avelire resides in Boston where she is completing her Masters at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts.
